Now that I’m armed with this laptop, I can get some writing done as well … probably right before bed like I am now.

I also bought myself a new camera, Olympus Stylus 790SW, a model above the one I lost during my trip to Costa Rica. The camera is nice with a lot of cool little features. I’ll start taking some shots with it and add them to my Flickr archive.

Life is normal here. The holidays are over and vacation is done. Next one is MLK B-day, if I remember that right. I’m ready … not that it’s been any bit crazy at work, I just got use to having the days off!

Speaking of work, I think I kind of pissed a few people off. I have a bad tendency to come off completely wrong without even knowing it. Somebody sent around a link to an old article (Oct ’08) about how Buffalo lost a patent lawsuit on the 802.11a, b and n specs as if it was any indication that the specs were in trouble. The suggested hording up wireless routers now, before there are none left. My reaction to that was this was just another bogus lawsuit and nothing to worry about. Well, somebody took “bogus” the wrong way and thought I meant fake (not “pointless”), but this isn’t occur to me until after the fact. doh. Well, I replied with an email explaining how this was just another lawsuit filed in Murphy Texas (a patent horder’s favorite little town) in attempts to get money. And then went into a couple other suits and how they related to this one explaining as to why this one was pointless.

At any rate, a co-worker pointed out my email sounded a bit “dickish” which wasn’t what I was trying to do at all! Yikes! Rebound…so I sent a follow up explaining I didn’t mean for it be rude in any way. My point was simply we don’t need to worry about hoarding up all the wireless devices as this case is far from over. It may take time, but eventually things will get settled out (most likely the patent getting nullified — hopefully).

I don’t know why I tend to come off that way. Is it my nature of being as analytical as I am? Or did I pick up some bad habits (or not learn any right ones?) when growing up? I don’t know. I do like that a co-worker pointed that out for me. It allowed me to review my email and the reply to really see what people meant and how they could have taken it the wrong way.

Now, that’s al done. It’s time for bed. Gute nacht. I’ll try to post again tomorrow night, as if anybody’s actually reading this….

So, yes, I forgot about this page. A ton as been going on. I’m part owner of a forum network for online gaming. I moved my sites to a new webhost. I’ve been reading up on stuff about making money online, business models and all sorts of junk.

To be quite honest, if I wrote about everything in this post, it’ll get to the length of pages and I just don’t have that time tonight. Sorry. If anybody even READs this and they want to know more, tell me. I doubt I would get any responses, so I won’t have to worry about explaining it.

However, from here forth, I’ll put forward an effort to write something. Even if it’s just a “my god, I don’t know what to write” post. After all, that is the only way to get the creative juices flowing — write and write some more.

So, this morning I had an interesting dream. I was some kind of detective. The details are faint as I’ve been up for about 3 hours now. I was working with a female partner, Skully (from X-Files — how’s she get in there?) and we were investigating something. A group of people came up and she went with them as incentive, I think. Anyway…I then go to a guy to track her precise location. He starts tracking her but then ran into a problem, due to size of his “map” and had to use another facility. We go there and pin-point her spot.

That led me into a locker room of some sorts. This wasn’t your average locker room. It was huge and co-ed. In the back there was a big door that was for the “elite” (aka, sport stars). I had a group of co-workers (cop buddies, etc) that made a surprise visit to assist in getting me back there. Interestingly enough, one of them was a bit slow on the uptake on what we were doing.

So, I get back there, it’s filled with a bunch of sport stars and others. As I walk though, there were people working on their running on some wood ladder like stairs, they would run across it, or jump across working their way up. To blend in, I found a set that ran across the back wall and strutted along it as I watched some people come out of a back room area.

Now here, I don’t know what happened, but the next thing I remember is “relaying out” the ladder, but I was putting down rugs that had a 3.95 price tag on each one. Don’t ask me WHERE I got that though. I just recall putting them down and having to make them arch up, like the previous “stairs” did.

From here, I ask a guy next to me about the back room. He states nobody goes in there.

Then, my alarm went off. I have no idea what would happen next.

I have the strangest dreams, I swear. I need to start writing them down in a bit more detail. Luckily, I do have them nightly. Well, enough of this post.

I didn’t do much at all. All I did was make a couple posts voicing some opinions of mine as to why I feel the guild is having some troubles and some suggestions as to how things can be fixed.

First issue is simple; they started making it *manditory* to sign up for a raid. I am sorry, but I am not making WoW a job again. I refuse to commit to something I do not want to make full time. WoW is a game to me and it will always be that way. I made a compromise though and posted “tentative.” Lets hope they accept that one.

Second issue is a doosy. It created quite the discussion. To lay the ground work, WoW has a raid zone called Karazhan. It is a 10 man raiding zone. My guild runs it with two groups. Group 1 (G1) has been raiding Kara for quite a while. Eventually my guild gained enough members (me included) to form Group 2 (G2). G2 has been having issues both in getting enough people to raid and getting past bosses, consistently. This is to be expected as G2 is new to Kara. Now, G1 has been doing some switching of players around, but only minor 1 or 2 here and there to assist G2. G1 still remains top and a bit cliquish, if you ask me. Now is where I turned on the drama (apparently). G1 is so tight, when I made the suggestion to really mix things up by splitting up G1, I got the flames! And boy did I. Wow … The biggest argument was “G1 has been raiding Kara for X long. You can’t appreciate all the hard work we put in. Now you want us to breeze G2 through it” blah blah blah. Apparently the people making this argument forgot that we are together as a single guild. Would it not be in their best interest to get G2 to their level as fast as possible so we all can run higher level instances together? Apparently not. To top that off, it also brought up some latent hostilities towards G1. Wow.

So now the thread is growing pages in size with G1 defending their need to stay together and G2 defending why it is best to integrate the groups more than we have been.

It is quite an interesting quandary, I tell you. So much so, I think it prompted an emergency guild meeting. At least one was posted, very short notice, on or site.

Of course, all this time, I’m all happy go lucky offering my services to offering to kick me out if they felt so inclined. We will see what happens in this guild meeting…I wonder how much hostility is directed towards me. I have a feeling it is just all latent venting people felt they had to get off their chest.
